I would like to welcome all of you to Houston Area Coating Society’s 2010 membership. I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful holiday. Last year we had a great year in the society and through our sponsored events and fund raising we were able to award 8 scholarships and add funds to the 2010’s treasury to help start this year. Bill Goulette did a great job as President last year and I hope I can follow in his footsteps.

I am looking forward to having another great year for the society. With all your support we will be able to have a wonderful time participating in all the events and on top of that, add some financial assistance to our scholarship program. We are already gearing up for the Painter’s Competition which will be held on April 10th at Marco's facility on Hwy 225 (Thank you Marco).

The Tradeshow will be held on Friday, April 23rd at the Pasadena Convention Center (same as usual). It will be a one day show similar to the show we put on last year. CLICK ON THE TRADE SHOW BUTTON ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THIS WEBSITE!

In March we will be having a NACE/Coating Society joint monthly meeting at Brady's Landing. We always have a good turn out when these two societies come together. Later on in the year we will get to enjoy the Past Presidents meeting, casino night, golf tournament, and the Christmas Party.

So let's come together as a group and make this one of the best years in the history of Houston Area Coating Society. See you at the next meeting.

 Plans for the 2010 Painters' Competition are well underway. The 2009 Painters’ Competition will be held on Saturday, April 10. The location is the Marco’ facility, 701 East Blvd. Deer Park, Texas 77536, Southeast Corner of East Blvd and Hwy 225.

It is our goal to host 10 teams. However, we will accept more applications to fill any "no shows". Teams are registered in date order. Teams may be from the contractor ranks, any other company wishing to host a team, or individuals. There is no entry fee.

There will be cash prizes to the first, second and third place winners. This year we may have other incentives to the participants that will be announced at a later date. The day of the competition will be a family setting with the Children's Area, food, refreshments, door prizes, and maybe some entertainment. The NACE Virtual Spray Booth will be open for the visitors use and bragging rights! The activities are indoors, so weather will not be a deterrent. The event draws between 100 and 150 visitors but we can handle more.

An area will be provided for “tailgate” or table top displays. There is no charge to display.

The drawing for the paint to be used will be held at the March Coating Society Meeting. Paint supplier/manufacturers may present their business cards for the drawing to any Painter Competition Committee member at any time and we will collect at the February and March meetings. Any fast drying paint will be considered.
