CoatingsPro Conference Cancelled |
Terrell, Per our conversation this afternoon, given the short time frame and lack of resources to help us build a successful technical program, the decision was made to cancel the CoatingsPro conference, scheduled for November 12-13, 2008. We appreciate the assistance from you and the members of the Houston Coatings Society, and look forward to seeing you at your golf outing later this year. Additionally, we would appreciate your help in communicating this to your members, as we want this timely announcement delivered as soon as possible, as to avoid any confusion or conflicts with peoples’ schedules. We anticipate hosting this conference next year at a time that is mutually beneficial. By postponing, we are confident that a technical program can be developed that exceeds the expectations of the coatings community, and can successfully draw several hundred attendees. Presidents Letter - May 08 |
|
May President’s Letter At our Past President’s meeting we will have a special guest with us, Scott Hollingsworth. Scott is a “magician” and he will be entertaining us at the May meeting. We all know that Magicians are most famous for making things disappear. Recently I had the pleasure of working with Wayne Pruitt on the Dick Paseman Project and while working on this project I noticed that some of our documents, photos and records have disappeared or have been forgotten in a desk drawer or stored in someone’s garage. While I don’t believe that the disappearance of this memorabilia is the works of a Magician; I do know how valuable this historical data is for our organization. While having a Magician make things disappear is entertaining, it’s not entertaining for our heritage or history to disappear as an organization. This year we had a banner made to proudly display at the Trade Show representing all the charities that we have made donations to over the years. I have to tell you – it was hard to recreate this list without our past records. Most of the list was put together based on the memory of our members. So I am asking you to take a minute and look through those desk drawers, rummage through those forgotten boxes and to reach back in your memory banks for anything that you might have and then send the data to me. I will get the data copied for our Dick Paseman Project and for our historical archives. Even if you just have memories that you would like to share about the Coating Society’s past please send me an email or a letter. Preserving our past gives us pride and justifies our future in the Houston market. I would like to tell you how PROUD I am to be here serving as your 53rd President as well as an active member of the “Coating Society of the Houston Area”. It also makes me very PROUD to reflect on the Coating Society’s members and Presidents that have been here before me. What they have done for our community through donations as well as the advancements they have made with this organization should make us ALL proud to be a member of this organization. Thank you, Terrell Nelson President 2008 |
